COMIC COURSE
(AMERICAN, EUROPEAN AND CARTOON)
KIDS AND ADULTS.

1.1 – Study of chiaroscuro with basic shapes.
1.2 – Study of the figure, line.
Creation of characters: male, female, boy, girl, muscular, obese, thin.
1.3 – Study of the portrait. Line and volume. Facial expressiveness.
Crowding of the elements of the face.
1.4 – Bodies in motion. Body expressiveness.
1.5 – The lines and their language.
Character creation exercise and study of it. Volumetry and various light points.
Exercise facial expressions and body poses.
2.1 – Vanishing points. Build vanishing bodies.
2.2 – Objects in vanishing points, distortion.
2.3 – Interior study. Panoramic study.
2.4 – Construction of bodies in vanishing points.
Theory: Intensity versus clarity.
3.2 – Mixed character exercise.
4.1 – The 5 choices
4.1.1 – Choice of the moment.
Comic exercise: summarize a film in 16 panels and assess.
4.2 – Plane types
4.3 – Types of transition.
Comic exercise: a sketched page with a short plot, to study types of transition.
4.4 – Combinations of word and image.
EXERCISE: use a couple of paragraphs from a novel and break them down into image plus word. Imagine different ways.
5.1 – Through a script already given, work a page: process of drawing, inking and layout.
THEORY: Plate, intensity versus clarity.
5.2 – Onomatopoeias.
6.1.1 – CONCEPT ART: GENERATE CHARACTERS, BUILDINGS, VEHICLES, MIX OF ELEMENTS.
6.1 -Work tools: types of effects with inks, aniline, mixed media, digital.
Experimentation of the graphic image.
6.2 – SCRIPT THEORY. USE ALL RESOURCES GIVEN.
EXERCISES PRIOR TO A COMIC SCRIPT.
